Construction
Château de Belfaux was built in 1766 by Charles de Castella for the Montenach family. Later it became the property of the d’Affry and Diesbach families.
This is a shining example of 18th century architecture. The castle’s beautifully proportioned façades, finely chiselled roof lines, wonderful simplicity of the gables and the beautiful, gardens are all shown to their advantage in this rural countryside setting. The balustrade of the balcony on the main façade reveals the great craftsmanship of 18th century wrought ironwork.
The lush grounds of this castle include a magnificent French-style park and garden, a chapel, a small hunting lodge, a pond, and magnificent fountains supplied with water from the castle’s own spring.
